: Zur wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung in Japan und China

Asia is the third biggest economic region in the world and of all Asian economies Japan and China are the largest. This report deals with two questions: Has the Japanese economy overcome the long period of deflation and stagnation? Will the Chinese economy be able to continue the high growth of recent years? The Japanese economy has made great progress in solving its structural problems and the prospects for future growth have improved markedly, but growth rates like those of the 1980s are not in sight. In China, the expansion will slow down somewhat next year, but growth rates will remain high in the medium term, although the economy will not grow without frictions.

Asien ist die drittgrößte Wirtschaftsregion der Welt und die mit Abstand größten Volkswirtschaften sind hier Japan und China. Dieser Report setzt sich mit zwei Fragen auseinander: Hat Japan die lange Zeit der Deflation und Stagnation überwunden? Und: Wird sich in China das hohe Wachstum der letzten beiden Jahre fortsetzen? Die japanische Wirtschaft hat große Fortschritte bei der Lösung ihrer strukturellen Probleme gemacht und die Aussichten für das weitere Wachstum haben sich deutlich verbessert; Wachstumsraten wie in den achtziger Jahren sind jedoch nicht zu erwarten. In China wird sich das Wirtschaftswachstum kurzfristig etwas abschwächen, mittelfristig aber hoch bleiben, wobei Friktionen allerdings nicht ausbleiben werden.
